Saint Agatha of Sicily (231 AD – 251 AD) is the patron saint of Catania, Molise, Malta and San Marino. She was tortured horribly, her breasts being ripped off with pincers, but she steadfastly refused to give up her faith. Her feast day is marked by huge celebrations and processions in Catania. She is the patron saint of breast cancer patients, martyrs, wet nurses, bellfounders, bakers, fire, earthquakes, and eruptions of Mount Etna.
