If you can't visit after Mass or other service, we will be happy to open up the church at an agreed time. Just email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  We don't charge for visits : we want to share this wonderful building with as many people as possible.

Accessibility

Step-free access to the church is available through the side door. This gives access to most of the church including a new fully accessible wc.

If you are attending mass and have mobility problems, the Blessed Sacrament can be brought to you at communion.

School and College Visits

We are very happy to arrange free visits for students of all ages and abilities.  Once you contact us, we will work with you to make sure your visit suits your pupils and their learning needs. Usually one or two of our congregation members (some are qualified teachers) will show you round and answer questions.

Our church building is very cold during the winter, so we recommend that KS1 children visit during warmer times of the year.  The start of the summer term is a lovely time to visit, when it is possible to see our Easter garden.

Please note that we celebrate Advent during most of December; our Christmas decorations do not go up until after the end of term!  Please arrange to visit in January if you want to see our Nativity Scene as it will be in place until 2nd February!  Or click on the links below to see the Opening Worlds videos.

Here are some useful resources for use in class (whether or not you actually visit St Agatha's!):

  • Teachers may find this video (made during lockdown) useful preparation for a visit.  It is also available as a Powerpoint file of Video Tour - with no sound but with notes (12 mB)
  • To see what St Agatha's is really like, click the link videos to open a Youtube playlist.  From the comfort of your classroom you can hear the organ play, see processions, or climb up the tower (with no risk assessment needed)!
  • The list includes videos to support Opening Worlds unit: The Birth of Christ.  The commentary is aimed at KS2 children (and needs improving) but you can always turn the sound down if you prefer to do the talking!
  • After your visit children may like to do Printable colouring in sheets
  • Have a look at our ‘East Window Search’. It is based on the book of Revelation, the last book in the Bible.
  • Kahoot quiz (needs to be set up by a teacher or someone with a Kahoot password)
